A Watery Ancestor Season

If you have been feeling more emotional, sensitive and raw than usual lately, you are not alone. With 6 out of 10 planets currently in water signs, a Full Moon ( last Thursday 10/17) square Pluto and the Moon and then Mars in Cancer (exact 10/28) opposing Pluto in Capricorn, there is a waterfall of feeling and intuition flowing through the collective these days.

When water shapes the celestial current, the invitation is to re-connect to our “soft animal underbelly”, to reflect on our history and sort through our vulnerabilities. Patience and gentleness to ourselves and others encourages the cosmic waters to flow into a sea of collective compassion.

This year, the water influx happens to coincide with ancestor season, a time when many cultures pause to reflect and honor their ancestors. Whether you celebrate Dia de Los Muertos, Samhain or some other ritual of ancestor remembrance, know that this year (2024)  is particularly blessed by the element of water. Shaping, moving, soothing and healing-water is the essence of life. Remember that our bodies are made mostly of water and as one of my favorite witchy chants goes: “The Ocean is the beginning of the Earth, all life comes from the sea…”

Whether you create an ancestor altar, swim in the ocean, do dreamwork, take a ritual bath, or process old emotions, these next few weeks are a potent opportunity to align yourself with the power of water.
