The Planets of Wealth Change Direction: Jupiter in Gemini Retrograde and Pluto in Capricorn Direct

Your understanding of wealth can shift this week as Jupiter and Pluto change direction.

In the days ahead, notice if your perspective of what it means to live a wealthy life begins to broaden.

Consider the etymology of this word:

Old English hælþ "wholeness, a being whole, sound or well," from Proto-Germanic *hailitho, from PIE *kailo- "whole, uninjured, of good omen" (source also of Old English hal "hale, whole;" Old Norse heill "healthy;" Old English halig, Old Norse helge "holy, sacred;" Old English hælan "to heal").

From a historical view, wealth has meant more than just having money. Wealth was a state of being, of wellness and wholeness. With roots in the Old Norse word, “holy” or “sacred”, there is even a spiritual component.

Jupiter introduces us to wealth that is expansive and generous, with the largest planet bringing good luck opportunities that expand our ability to attract fortune. Pluto is the god of investments, underground treasures and hidden or inherited wealth.

Both planets also have spiritual attributes, with Jupiter as the King of the Gods, or the Guru, encouraging us to expand our perspectives and find meaning in life. Pluto brings spiritual transformation, teaching us about the mysteries of life and the eternal truth of the spirit.

This week, these two powerful planets move, shifting the cosmic field as their effects ripple through our lives. (Jupiter turns retrograde at 21 Gemini on 10/9 (until 2/5/25) and Pluto goes direct on 10/11 in the final degree of Capricorn (29).)

Whenever a planet changes direction you will notice the archetypes and meaning of the planet emerging more strongly.

This means that now is the time to consider:

  1. What does it mean to live a “wealthy” life?

  2. How have you been lucky this year?

  3. What is dying and what is being born?

  4. How are you leaving behind the past?

As we enter into a collectively tense election season in the United States, these two planets will be shaping our perspective of the future. Encouraging a review of our way of expanding (Jupiter retrograde) and an emergence of our ability to transform (Pluto Direct).
